$12million to combat cardiovascular disease
The Institute has been awarded a $12million Program Grant by the NHMRC towards a program to generate evidence for new strategies to combat cardiovascular diseases.
Cardiovascular diseases such as stroke and heart attack are the leading causes of death and disease in Australia and the world. While there are many established treatment and prevention strategies, there remains great potential for further advances to avoid large numbers of death and disabling outcomes from these conditions.
This Institute program will bring together clinicians, epidemiologists and statisticians in a unique endeavour to provide new information - giving patients, doctors, consumers and policy makers novel options for disease prevention.
